Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk was A Success!

This weekend I had the pleasure of participating in the Strides against Breast Cancer Walk with the American Cancer Society. This was my first time participating in the walk and it was such a pleasure to hear some of the stories of survival and memories of the the ones that didn’t make it. This opportunity was shared by thousands that came out this past Saturday morning at Centinnial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta. There was over 10,000 people that participating and they raised over 2 million dollars for this event. It was great seeing people come together for such a great cause. Knowing that the community supports them and everyone has been affected by breast cancer in one way or another makes this a great reason to celebrate and raise money.

There were many corporate sponsors participating as well such as Wal-Mart, Athena Water, and Cousins, along with many others.  Since I was a newbie to this I did not know what to expect for this big walk and I didn’t know that there would be thousands participating either. I arrived early so that I could take in the full experience of the Race and I’m so glad I did. They got the crowd going early with some jamming music they had everyone in the middle of the park doing the “Cupid Shuffle” and  “The Wobble”.  Again it was great to see people in such a great mood while supporting a great cause.  I also got a chance to join up with my fellow blogger friend Alicia from Da Queen of Kings and we had a great time walking together and sharing stories of survivors.   In all I really enjoyed my morning and getting to participate in such a great cause and will definitely be back next year to participate and raise more money to help Fight Breast Cancer!

at the finish line! Yaay we made it!
